“Italian Renaissance Gala” Turns
Mar-a-Lago Into Tuscan Vineyard

Palm Beach, FL - The Palm Beach Area Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual dinner dance took place on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach.

The event began with the cocktail hour taking place around the pool. The more than 300 guests also mingled in the white and gold ballroom while bidding on an array of fantastic auction items, such as a pair of Roberto Coin diamond earrings and trips to tropical islands.

After cocktails, guests entered the ballroom, which was transformed into a Tuscan Vineyard with grape vines and sunflowers.  The Gala Chairman, Jason Guari, did a brief welcome speech and then spoke from the heart about his wife, Nicole’s, own battle to fight leukemia. He proudly announced that she is in remission and they are both very thankful for all of the family and friends who supported them during that difficult time period.

Mr. & Mrs. Jason Guari served as the Chairmen. Ms. Elizabeth Fago served as Chairman Emeritus.  Ms. Ari Rifkin served as Honorary Chairman. Mr. & Mrs. John Cassidy and Mr. & Mrs. John Caruso served as Junior Committee Chairmen.

Local sponsors of the Gala included Grand Benefactor - Lighthouse Partners;  Patrons -  The Rhoda and David Chase Family Foundation, Mr. & Mrs. Mark Gussack, The Gardens Mall, The Leder Family Foundation,  The Palm Beacher Magazine, Mr. & Mrs. Sean McGould,  Ms. Suzy Minkoff, and Mrs. Ari Rifkin; Jewelry Sponsor – Hamilton Jewelers; Table Hosts – Brock Development, Edwards and Company, Ms. Elizabeth Fago, Murray & Guari Trial Attorneys, Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, PA, The GEO Group and Mrs. & Mrs. William Weprin.

All proceeds from the annual gala benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the nation’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improving the quality of life of patients and their families.  For more information, contact Darby Collins, Senior Campaign Director at (561) 775-9954.
