LIFE'S Wine Dinner and Auction Uncorks a Spirited Evening In support of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial
Fine spirits was the order of the evening Wednesday, March 5 as supporters of Leaders in Furthering Education - (LIFE) gathered at The Mar-a-Lago Club for the annual "Exclusive International Wine Dinner" sponsored by Mary and Robert Montgomery.
Proceeds from the event benefited the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial which will be built in Washington, D.C. adjacent to the National Mall and in full view of the U.S. Capitol.
The Memorial, funded completely through private sources, will honor the more than three million living disabled veterans and all of those throughout American history.
Chairwomen Lois Pope, Mary Montgomery and Suzi Goldsmith worked tirelessly to ensure that the evening was a great success.
Guests enjoyed a sampling of fine champagnes and wines donated by Southern Wine & Spirits which will was poured throughout the cocktail hour and dinner. A silent auction held before dinner included wine, spirits, and others items for the dining and entertaining connoisseur.
The "Tiffany Wall of Life" offered a chance to purchase a beautiful gift donated by the venerable retailer. Corporate benefactors for the evening included Southern Wine & Spirits and Citi Private Bank.
After a superb gourmet dinner, Mel Dick, President of the Wine Division of Southern Wine & Spirits of America auctioned fine and rare wines in an exciting live auction, including a vertical of "Screaming Eagle."
The crowd enjoyed competing to add to their wine collections while supporting the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial.
Once dessert was served, a real treat was dished up as veteran entertainers Marty Allen and Karon Kate Blackwell took the stage to present some spirited entertainment of the comedic and musical variety.
